The past month has been exceptionally busy for the ENERGIZE consortium. Between the end of June and mid-July, our partners took part in four major international conferences across Europe and Asia, presenting the latest project results, engaging with the global research community, and strengthening the collaborations that drive ENERGIZE forward.
Exploring the Future of 2D Materials in Singapore
The conference season began at 2D Transition Metal Dichalcogenides 2026 (2D TMDs 2026), hosted by the National University of Singapore from 28 June to 2 July 2026. Bringing together leading researchers in two-dimensional materials, the conference explored advances in electronics, photonics, sensing, and quantum technologies.
ENERGIZE was represented by Yuan Fa (RWTH Aachen University) and Andras Kis (EPFL), who presented their latest research on 2D materials and contributed to discussions on the next generation of energy-efficient electronic devices.
ENERGIZE at ISPSA 2026: Strengthening EU–Korea Collaboration
At the same time, several ENERGIZE partners gathered in Jeju, Republic of Korea, for the International Symposium on Power Semiconductor Applications (ISPSA 2026).
A highlight of the conference was the organisation of two ENERGIZE satellite sessions on “Energy-efficient Neuromorphic 2D Devices and Circuits for Edge AI Computing.” The sessions brought together experts from Europe and the Republic of Korea, showcasing the consortium’s multidisciplinary expertise and fostering discussions on neuromorphic hardware, two-dimensional materials, and edge AI.

Advancing Neuromorphic Computing in Aachen
Back in Europe, ENERGIZE was also represented at the International Conference on Neuromorphic Computing and Engineering (ICNCE 2026) in Aachen, Germany.
The conference, at its second edition, is an initiative of the project Neurotec and the Cluster4Future NeuroSys. ENERGIZE’s partner Max Lemme (RWTH Aachen University & AMO GmbH) served as co-chair. 
ICNCE 2026 brought the international neuromorphic computing community to Aachen. Researchers, engineers, innovators, and industry representatives from around the world came together to exchange ideas, share research results, and build new connections. It has been an excellent an opportunity to showcase the research on novel materials and device concepts for next-generation neuromorphic hardware pursued at RWTH Aachen University.
Showcasing ENERGIZE at Nano Korea 2026
The conference season continued at Nano Korea 2026, held from 8–10 July 2026 at KINTEX in the Republic of Korea, one of Asia’s premier events for nanotechnology research and innovation.
ENERGIZE maintained a strong presence throughout the conference. Max Lemme (RWTH & AMO) delivered an invited talk on “Ion-based Switching Mechanisms in 2D-Material-based Memristors,” Several other ENERGIZE partners also attended, exchanging ideas with researchers, industry representatives, and potential collaborators.
With the Republic of Korea now participating in Horizon Europe, conferences such as ISPSA and Nano Korea play an increasingly important role in strengthening EU–Korea research and innovation. They provide valuable opportunities to build partnerships, share expertise, and develop future collaborative projects.
